Rotary Club Donates To R.Centre.

Two LoszuGhana Volunteers on Behalf of the Rotary Club of Austria donated a bag of rice, assorted items to the Rehabilitation centre in Kumasi.

Similar donations were also given to some other projects of LoszuGhana including The LoszuGhana Childrens Village, The Grannys’ Children Home at Amanfrom near Kumasi.

The donations were spearheaded by Magda Reichinger and Jana Waldhoer all from Austria.

In a statement issued by Modesto(Centre Manager- Rehab Centre), he said the association looks up cooperate bodies and philanthropist to give alms in similar ways,

He also added that, the donations came at the time the centre needed it most as they were drawing closer to the end of their academic term and had seriously run out of funds and food.

The students at the centre could not hold their excitement and their cheeks were flushed wit excitement as they ended with  picture shooting with the donors.

 

LoszuGhana Conference Begins

LoszuGhana Association( worldwide) today commenced their meeting to discuss matters of interest pertaining to the organization. Participants include “Returnees” past volunteers and other officials of LoszuGhana Association. It conference is expected to last till Sunday 19^th September, 2010.

Brong Ahafo Projects Revealed

LoszuGhana Association has added new on-going projects to their list of projects on their website. These new projects include a rehabilitation centre, orphanage and schools which are found in the Sunyani Metropolis in the Brong Ahafo Region of Ghana.

This step is part of their measure to extend support and cross cultural integration across the entire nation Ghana. The Association will soon incorporated new variety of projects such as drumming lessons, beads making, tie and die etc.

LoszuOrphan – On – the- Go

As part of the preliminary activities towards the orphanage building, LoszuGhana Association held another meeting to discuss matters of interest pertaining to the orphanage. Representatives who participated included Tamara from Switzerland, Peter, Douglas, Nana, Steven and Mr. Boateng all form the Ghana team.

Activities held included a visit to the orphanage land at Adwumam and the PCC (home for mentally handicap ) at Nkornasa. Discussions also included an evaluation of work done so far and the way forward.

The meeting was generally described as successful and fruitful.

LOSZUGHANA TO SOON LAUNCH A NEW WEBSITE

LoszuGhana Association is underway to launch a new website for PROFFESIONAL VOLUNTEERS.                                                                                 As part of the aim of LoszuGhana association of helping and assisting the needy and promoting cross cultural integration through their voluntary work programme, the association has put together a new initiative. This initiative is to add a proficient touch to their voluntary work programme by involving Professionals to contribute their quota in their field of work.

Categories of professional to partake includes;

IT’S HOLIDAYS!

Currently almost all volunteers are traveling as a result of the school Holidays/ vacation period. This holiday period like any other weekend, forms part of the time when volunteers have some free time.

During these times, engaging in some extra work in a project or touring Ghana is always under the volunteer’s jurisdiction.

However, the office (Loszughana office in Ghana) assists volunteers in planning and scheduling their traveling in other not to exceed the stipulated travelling periods.

This Holiday was not an exception as most of the volunteers are currently travelling along the beaches and other sightseeing areas and national parks in Ghana.

Italian deligate visit LoszuGhana Projects

A delegate from the Amici dei Popoli(NGO) in Italy last Sunday(18.04.10) visited the Cherubs orphanage, Rehabilitation Centre and the Great Achievers School respectively. The visit was part of their inspection programme in collaborating with partner organization in recruiting new projects with common interest.

Loszughana was not left out as Nana and Douglas welcomed Dominico (deligate from Amici dei Popoli) and showed him all the projects as mentioned above.

Discussions at the rehabilitation centre included a brief intro and history of the centre and further discussion on matters of interest such as the administration, problems and failures at the rehabilitation centre.

Delving into matters, Mr. Modesto Ayiwole (Centre Manager) disclosed that there is not much support from the government and does not attribute this to the economic hardship in the country but further described it as a total neglect on the government.

He further sighted an example of how the government have schemes to support ABLE school children like the “FREE SCHOOL FEEDING PROGRAMME”, but there is no such thing for physically challenged like those at his centre.

He concluded, they still look up to generous donors and organizations for support .

Camp 2010

Loszughana has held another successive midyear camp again. The camp which was scheduled for last weekend 16^th April, hosted 10 people including volunteers.

It was coordinated by Nana and Douglas to share, reveal and resolve experiences and problems face by volunteers during the last months of stay in Ghana.

Like the other successive camps the vols had all opportunities to learn new method of going about their duties, pass on experiences to fellow and socializing with new colleagues.

LoszuGhana to go for Camp

Once again Loszughana will be embarking on their usual mid-term of stay camp for their volunteers for the year 2010 to be held from 16^th -18^th this month at the mount Olivet retreat centre. This camp is described as a multifunctional one since it’s programmed to evaluate the “END” of stay of some volunteers and the “MID” stay of others.

The Association is looking forward to about 9 volunteers, representatives from partner organization in Italy and a representative from the Department of Children Affairs-Kumasi.

Issues to be discussed includes: volunteers experiences, failures, problems, voluntary work programme coordination etc.

The previous camp which was held from the 25^th -27^th November, 2009 was a step in the right direction for Loszughana Association in promoting intercultural learning through their voluntary work programme. Let’s see what comes up with this time !!
